Editor's Letter | Prioritise Self-Acceptance

When putting together the content for this issue, I had to think really hard about the relationship I have with self-acceptance. I think this is because I thought that I always had a very good sense of self-acceptance since I’ve always showed up authentically regardless of what others thought or said about me.

But I realised that this was a perceived confidence I carried with me for a very long time because, for a very long time, I carried a lot of guilt and shame about decisions I had made in my past and, without realising it, it affected how I viewed myself, how I showed up, how I spoke to myself and what I thought about myself. I was in a constant back-and-forth about the parts I loved about myself overshadowing the parts I didn’t love about myself.

If we’re being honest, this is the internal dialogue most of us have with ourselves, where we pit the good and bad parts about ourselves up against each other, not realising the freedom we’re missing out on when we wholly and completely just accept it all. Accept that it’s who we are in this moment and it’s the best way we can show up in THIS moment but there are many more moments we can show up in and be better. It’s knowing that your strengths, weaknesses, and flaws can live together, and it’ll be messy, it’ll be beautiful but, most importantly, it’ll be an authentic work-in-progress.

During this month I’ll delve deeper into this with our FIRST guest on the podcast, women’s lifestyle coach and founder of @the_staple_life, Rox Marthinussen who will help us unpack this concept of self-acceptance, debunking various misconceptions about it and teaching us about self-acceptance in action so we can fully step into it on our own journeys.

We’ll also share some people you can follow for some self-acceptance inspo as well as some great recommendations and free resources to help you along the way.

I hope you guys will enjoy learning more about it too.

Love you guys xxx
