Editor's Letter | Prioritise Rest

Updated: Oct 18, 2021

Can you believe we are just over halfway through the year?? Usually when we reach the halfway mark, we’re kind of just trekking through to the end of it because we know the busiest times of the year are ahead as we count down to our festive break in December. This is why I found it extremely important for us to pull back and take some time to rest. Here, resting doesn’t necessarily mean taking a sabbatical or going on holiday but, here, the meaning of rest within this context can differ to many people. It can mean:

· Slowing down and reflecting on the year so far

· Taking better care of your mental, emotional and spiritual well-being

· Realising you don’t need to be so hard on yourself

· Slowing down, embracing slow living and living more intentionally

· Or, slowing down just because

For me, resting right now means reflecting on the year so far. It’s about pausing and assessing whether I’m still on the right path. It’s about pausing and assessing which goals I have or haven’t smashed yet. It’s about pausing and assessing my intentionality about the life I am creating for myself right now. It’s about pausing and assessing my well-being and whether it’s still in a good space. It’s about continually striving toward a life of slow living, daily.

And I’d like to encourage you to do the same right now. What does ‘rest’ at this time of the year mean to you? What are you pausing and taking a moment for?

Join me over the next few weeks as we delve deeper into rest and discover how we can better rest to be our best self.
